Jeev-Mitra: Human-Centred Design for Manhole Workers' Safety
"Jeev-Mitra", represents an integration of intuitive design elements aimed at enhancing the work conditions and safety of manhole scavengers and sewage cleaners, designed during a 2 week course of "Design Process". It is a tool with a light source with an expandable length to fit any dimensions of sewer chambers and a panic button to trigger emergency to alert the co-worker.
Double Diamond Design Process
The 2-week "Design Process" followed Double Diamond design process with Extreme Users as a focal point throughout. This process structures thinking into Discovery, Definition, Development, and Delivery. It encourages exploring the problem deeply before narrowing down to focused solutions. This approach ensures decisions are grounded in research, iteration, and user needs.
Throughout our journey, we established our unique adaptation of the double diamond design process, emphasizing multiple iterations, an agile working approach, and the integration of continuous feedback, all of which played pivotal roles in our project’s development.
While working, we also adopted multidimensional approach, fostering creativity through collaborative brainstorming. Effective teamwork and empathy are central to our endeavors, acknowledging the dynamic nature of design and the courage required to push boundaries for innovative solutions was our important learning.
